Do you have deep lines between your eyebrows or on your forehead? Are they making you look older than you actually feel? Commonly called “dynamic wrinkles”, these common lines are formed by underlying facial muscles that can be treated for those living in Spokane using BOTOX® injections.
What Is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is a treatment that we deliver through an injection to lower the activity of some facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. These types of wrinkles are commonly located on the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and neck lines.
Injections are not normally performed around the mouth area since this could lead to difficulty in speaking or eating. Choosing a qualified practitioner will help you avoid any adverse events that rarely occur.
In addition to its cosmetic use, injections can be used to help prevent migraine headaches or hyperhidrosis, a form of uncontrolled sweating.
Is BOTOX® Like Fillers?
Although both BOTOX® and fillers are used for anti-aging purposes, they work very differently and contain different substances. While fillers enhance facial volume through an injection of substances like hyaluronic acid and collagen, BOTOX® is a purified protein solution that works by relaxing facial muscles in the treatment area.
Is It Safe?
BOTOX® has a sound record of safety over several decades. It is created in a laboratory under extremely strict, monitored conditions. Once injected, it does not travel within the body. Instead, it remains where it is injected to prevent the formation of dynamic wrinkles.
Are There Any Aftercare Instructions?
Our Spokane patients are typically able to resume their daily activities immediately after their injections. You may be advised to refrain from consuming alcohol, rubbing your face in the treatment area, having a hot bath or shower, or leaning forward for extended periods of time.
You may exercise muscles in the treatment area if you wish. For example, you may purse your lips or raise your eyebrows to help work the product into facial muscles.
Can I Sleep on My Side after My Treatment?
Yes, as long as you wait a minimum of four hours before you lie down. Injections will take a few hours to settle in, so immediately lying down could cause the product to travel to other parts of your face outside of the treatment area.
