Physical and mental fatigue are different from one another, but they often occur together. When you feel fatigued, it can be difficult to get through your day-to-day tasks and find the motivation to move forward. Often, those who are experiencing fatigue look to a Vitamin B12 injection to help them regain their energy. If you think you’ve been suffering from fatigue, call Sarah Hamilton FACE in Spokane, Liberty Lake & Coeur d’ Alene, WA and speak with one of our medical professionals today.
What Types of Fatigue Are There?
Fatigue often makes it difficult to stay awake at night or to get out of bed in the morning. There are a few different types of fatigue, and each one can affect you differently.
When feeling physical fatigue, you may find it physically difficult to do normal things you used to do, such as climbing stairs or walking long distances. Physical fatigue includes muscle weakness and diagnosis sometimes involves a strength test.
With mental fatigue, you may find it harder to concentrate on things or stay on task. You might feel sleepy often or have difficulty staying awake even while working.
Is It Sleepiness or Fatigue?
Sleepiness generally occurs when someone does not get enough good-quality sleep or if they’re experiencing a lack of stimulation. Sometimes it’s a sign of a medical condition that interferes with sleep, such as restless leg syndrome or sleep apnea.
Sleepiness is usually a short-term issue that can be solved by getting sleep that is both higher quality and more consistent. When sleepiness stems from fatigue, it’s usually a chronic issue linked to a medical condition or health problem. Sometimes fatigue itself is the issue in people who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome. Whatever the cause, some people are able to find relief from their fatigue by getting B12 injections.
Are Vitamin B12 Injections Good for You?
Vitamin supplements are a popular method for treating a variety of conditions, including fatigue. Supplements can act as a “safety net” of sorts by ensuring adequate nutrient intake beyond what you’re eating and help fill in any nutrient gaps in your diet. B12 deficiency is a widespread problem, leading many to turn to injections as a way to ensure they’re getting this vital nutrient.
These injections help increase energy levels, improve brain function, and can even help with weight loss. If you think Vitamin B12 injections are something you should consider, read on to find more about what they can do for your health.
What Is Vitamin B12 and What Does It Do?
Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin that also goes by the name of cobalamin. It plays a critical role in brain function, the production of DNA, and red blood cells. In its chemical form, B12 can exist in a variety of forms, but all of them contain the mineral cobalt. B12 can be stored in the liver during periods of excess, and deficiencies can, therefore, take some time to develop as the body draws on its B12 reserves.
Deficiency Is Common
The recommended daily intake of B12 is 6mcg/day. This can be gotten from a variety of foods today, though some of the richest sources include animal products. As a result, many (but not all) of those who find themselves with B12 deficiencies include individuals who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. As a matter of fact, some estimates have put the frequency of B12 deficiencies in people with these diets as high as 90%.
Choosing to include meat in your diet isn’t necessarily going to stave off a B12 deficiency, however, as some people simply have difficulty absorbing the vitamin. In these people, Vitamin B12 injections can be particularly beneficial. B12 is unlike other important vitamins in that absorption depends on a protein (known as intrinsic factor) that’s produced in your stomach. Intrinsic factor binds to B12, making it possible to be absorbed into the blood. If your body does not produce enough intrinsic factor, experiencing B12 deficiency is much more likely.
The ability to absorb B12 can decrease with age, making deficiency more common in elderly people. Others with an increased risk of deficiency are those who have had intestinal surgery or diseases that affect the gut, such as Crohn’s or celiac disease.
Are Injections Effective?
When left untreated, a B12 deficiency can lead to neurological problems or pernicious anemia. Pernicious anemia is a condition in which a person does not have enough B12 to produce red blood cells. Injections are the most common way to prevent or treat such a deficiency once it has been diagnosed.
They’re prescribed by a doctor and given intramuscularly (into the muscle). Typically, injections are given in the form of hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin. Both are effective at raising blood levels of B12 and reversing a deficiency, as well as preventing further deficiencies and reducing fatigue.
What Are the Benefits of Injections?
Since the role that B12 plays in the body is so critical for your overall health, a deficiency in this nutrient can have serious health consequences. Low levels of B12 in the blood have been linked to several common health problems.
Low levels of B12 in the blood have been linked to a decline in brain function. Some reviews have even found a link between B12 deficiency and dementia. When your brain function is impaired by a B12 deficiency, supplementation via injection may help alleviate the symptoms and make your thinking clearer and easier.
It’s been suggested more than once that there may be a link between low B12 levels in the blood and depression. Treating depressive symptoms with Vitamin B12 has been done, though the results are mixed. Some believe that the B12 supplementation wasn’t able to reduce the severity of symptoms, while others believe that taking injections on a long-term basis could help prevent a relapse into depression in those who are at risk.
Osteoporosis is a disease where your bones gradually lose mass over time. As this happens, it results in weaker bones and an increased risk of bone fractures. If you’ve ever wondered why elderly people so often break their hips, osteoporosis is one of the leading reasons. Low blood levels of B12 have been linked with reduced bone mass. As a result, it’s been suggested that treatment may reduce your risk of osteoporosis by promoting bone health.
Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration is a condition that causes someone to gradually lose central vision, most often in both eyes. For those who are age 50 and above, adequate consumption of Vitamin B12 is believed to be an important factor in maintaining good vision and protecting against macular degeneration. In one study, 5,200 women received supplements that included large amounts of Vitamin B12, other B vitamins, and folic acid daily. 7 years later, the study found a 35% lower risk of age-related macular degeneration among women who received the supplements.
Studies have shown that low B12 levels can contribute to a variety of health complications, including fatigue. Recently, Vitamin B12 injections have become popular among those who don’t necessarily appear to have a deficiency. Symptoms of fatigue can be sneaky and are often written off as temporary sleepiness due to one or more causes the day before. However, persistent fatigue can be disastrous to your daily life and make it extremely difficult to accomplish even the simplest tasks.
B12 treatment can help you keep up with your busy lifestyle by increasing your energy and revving up your metabolism. Administering Vitamin B12 via injection allows it to bypass your digestive system and temporarily increase your body’s stores of the vital nutrient and give you a more immediate boost.
Deficiencies can stem from multiple sources, but Vitamin B12 injections can help increase your energy levels and fight fatigue, improve your metabolism, promote better sleep, increase concentration and mood, boost your immune system, and have additional beneficial effects on your hair growth/loss.
Are Vitamin B12 Injections Safe?
B12 is an extremely important nutrient that the body requires to function at optimal levels. B12 injections are generally considered to be extremely safe and have no major side effects. However, in very rare cases where a person is allergic to B12, complications can occur. That’s why it’s important to always get your injections from a qualified medical professional who is familiar with your health history and allergies (if any).
Where Else Can You Get Vitamin B12?
As previously mentioned, the only other way to get Vitamin B12 is through a diet rich in foods that either naturally contain B12 or have been fortified with it. Fortified foods tend to vary, though nowadays B12 can be commonly found in milk and breakfast cereals in the United States. Naturally-rich sources of B12 include:
- Beef Kidney
- Ground Beef
Some people, especially those following a vegetarian or vegan diet, can find it extremely difficult to meet their vitamin B12 requirements through diet alone. For people in these situations, it’s often recommended that you supplement your diet with a Vitamin B12. Increasing amounts of evidence have shown that injections are an excellent way for most people to raise their blood levels of B12.
Don’t Neglect Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble nutrient that plays a vital role in brain function, the production of DNA, and red blood cells. Many people are deficient as a result of lifestyle choices or medical conditions, and, as a result, can experience mental and physical fatigue, hair thinning, or pernicious anemia (a condition where the body has insufficient B12 to produce red blood cells.)
While deficiency is common, treatment is a safe, time-tested method that can reduce or eliminate the symptoms of B12 deficiency whatever their cause. People who eat a well-balanced diet which includes foods that are rich in Vitamin B12 may not need to take supplements if they aren’t feeling any adverse health effects. However, some people, especially those who have difficulty metabolizing B12 and getting it into their bloodstream, may benefit greatly from regular Vitamin B12 injections.
If you are at risk of deficiency for any reason, whether it be medical, biological, or dietary, you should look into supplementation in an effort to stave off the potentially harmful effects that a B12 deficiency can bring.

Dermal fillers are a highly effective treatment that can restore youthful volume to your skin. So, are they right for you? At Sarah Hamilton FACE in Liberty Lake, WA, we offer dermal fillers to people who are looking for a way to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, achieve fuller lips, or even address the issue of acne scarring. Read on, and we will help you assess this cosmetic option.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
About This Treatment
Dermal fillers are injectables used to add volume to your skin. They are one of the most effective, minimally invasive treatments for reversing the signs of aging. Unlike, facelifts, liposuction, and fat transfers, they do not require surgery. You will see a noticeable improvement immediately after your treatment.
Most fillers use a modified form of Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin that is essential to its structure. The hyaluronic acid stimulates the production of collagen, a protein that gives your skin its elasticity. It also draws moisture to the injected areas. As a result, you can use this treatment to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
The Aesthetics of This Treatment
This treatment yields natural-looking results. The goal is for you to look like you, not like the fillers! In the past, injectables were used to literally fill in wrinkles, yielding results that appeared artificial. With improvements in the technology, we are now able to use them to add volume to your skin. This new approach is both effective and subtle.
Uses of This Treatment
Most of the uses for this treatment involve restoring youth and smoothness to the skin. Fillers are used to dramatically reduce the appearance of:
- Brow lines
- Marionette lines (Nasolabial folds)
- “11” lines
- Crow’s feet
- Other fine lines and wrinkles
This treatment can also be used to achieve plumper lips and greater volume in the cheeks. This makes it a popular solution for women who have mature skin and younger women who just want to see more volume in specific areas.
The top brands for this treatment are:
How Long Do the Results Last?
The results of this treatment last between six months and one year. Sometimes, people find that the benefits last even longer.
Is This Treatment Safe?
Yes! This treatment is perfectly safe as long as it is performed by a board-certified medical professional. It is FDA approved for use in anyone over age 21, and there are no significant long-term effects. Even if you don’t like the results (which is uncommon), there is an enzyme that can be injected to dissolve the product.
Only pregnant women, women who are breastfeeding, and people with a history of severe allergies should avoid getting fillers. If you are fighting a sinus infection, it is a good idea to wait until it clears up before getting your treatment.
How to Prepare for the Treatment
Clean your face before you come in for your treatment. If you have dental work that needs to be done, either schedule it before your medspa appointment or leave a week afterward for your face to rest. Dental work usually involves applying pressure to your face, which could cause the product to move out of the injected area.
What Should You Do After the Treatment?
Fillers generally require very little downtime. You can leave the medspa immediately after your treatment and resume most normal activities, including going to work. Intense exercise and rigorous activities can be resumed 24 to 48 hours after your treatment.
Why Does Our Skin Change as We Age?
There are a variety of reasons why we all eventually start to see changes in our skin (usually beginning in our late 20s). Some are genetic. Others are environmental. Still others are the result of lifestyle factors.
Loss of Collagen and Elastin
Collagen and elastin are two naturally occurring substances in your face that maintain its structure. You have 43 different muscles in your face. They cause your skin to crease when you make facial expressions. Youthful skin that has a lot of collagen and elastin will return to its original position after your face has relaxed. As we get older, our bodies produce less and less of these substances. As a result, your face will retain creases in the form of lines and wrinkles.
Sun exposure is the #1 cause of premature aging. Unfortunately for those of us who enjoy being outdoors and who might have neglected to wear an SPF consistently, the collagen and elastin in your skin breaks down more quickly after exposure to sunlight.
Certain chemicals and other particles in the atmosphere could contribute to the premature aging of your skin.
Diet and Water Consumption
If you find it difficult to get enough vitamins in your diet, your skin could age faster as a result. Vitamins A, C, E, D, the B vitamins, and zinc are all important to maintaining youthful skin. Not getting enough hydration could also contribute to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Conversely, there are some foods and drinks that can speed up the aging process. These include alcohol, caffeine, and sweets.
Your genes will determine the rate at which you age. The timeline of this process is different for everyone. Eventually, you will probably start to see lines and wrinkles that resemble those in others in your family.
Lack of Sleep
Our sleeping hours give our bodies a chance to repair themselves. It is during this time that our tissues rebuild. Those of us who do not get enough sleep have less of an opportunity to rejuvenate at night, resulting in an acceleration of the aging process.
Stress is a natural response to pressure, and it can helpful in getting our minds and our bodies ready to deal with difficult situations. Unfortunately, chronic amounts of stress can have a damaging effect on our skin. When we feel stressed, our bodies produce cortisol. This, in turn, breaks down collagen. As we know, any enemy of collagen is an enemy to our skin.
How Can Dermal Fillers Help?
Regardless of whether your fine lines and wrinkles are the result of genetic, environmental, or lifestyle factors, dermal fillers can provide a solution. You might not be able to control the amount of pollution in the air where you live or manage to get the all-important z’s, but you can take control of your appearance with fillers.
Fillers will work to increase the volume that was lost through the processes mentioned above. They are especially effective when combined with good habits, such as eating vitamin-rich foods and managing stress levels.
The Different Kinds of Dermal Fillers
JUVÉDERM® is the top-ranked filler available today. It works by delivering hyaluronic acid to your skin while encouraging the natural production of collagen. One of the reasons it is so popular is because the results last for a long time. Patients who opt for JUVÉDERM® only need to return for treatments every 9 to 12 months. It is effective against fine lines, wrinkles, volume loss in the cheeks and across the jawline, and thin lips.
There are several different formulas available. The best one for you will depend on the viscosity (thickness and consistency) you need to get your desired results. Some options are:
- Juvéderm® Ultra Plus
- Juvéderm® Voluma
- Juvéderm® Volbella
- Juvéderm® Vollure
This filler was designed to combat the process by which our skin sags as it ages. In part, this happens because when we lose bone density, the skin around the bones starts to droop. RESTYLANE® plumps and lifts the skin, delivering results that last between 6 and 9 months. For optimal results, it can be combined with Botox.
- Restylane® Silk
- Restylane® Lyft
- Restylane® Refyne
- Restylane® Defyne
KYBELLA® is an excellent option for people who want to improve their profiles by reducing excess fat under the chin. In fact, it is the only FDA approved injectable that can do so. When you opt for this treatment, you will receive a series of injections, each delivering improvement. The cumulative effect is a more sculpted chin that will retain its new shape for years. It can also be used to address other small areas of the body.
What Are the Differences Between Dermal Fillers and Botox?
Both fillers and Botox are excellent options for people who want to restore a more youthful look by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While both are injectables, they work in different ways. Fillers add volume. Botox relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles.
In general, fillers can address deeper lines than Botox. Botox is often used in preventative ways, whereas fillers usually aren’t. Many people use Botox and fillers in combination. These treatments can dramatically decrease the rate at which your skin changes, reducing the need for surgical measures like facelifts and fat transfers.
Who Can Benefit From This Treatment?
Fillers can meet the needs of many people with the following concerns:
- Fine lines
- Thin lips
- Hollow areas under the eyes
- Decreased facial volume, especially in the cheeks
- Acne scarring
- Excessive fat under the chin
Fillers are most popular for women in their 40s and 50s, but there is a rise in the number of younger women who opt for the treatment. While Botox is more commonly associated with preventing wrinkles, starting fillers early can sometimes have this effect, too.

Are Dermal Fillers Right for You?
If you have aesthetic goals that include smooth skin, reduced wrinkles, and increased facial volume, this treatment is an excellent option for you. By utilizing hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in your face, fillers help fend off the signs of aging and restore some of your youthful volume. Fillers come in a variety of different options so you can be matched with the product that best fits your needs.
The benefits of fillers include increased satisfaction with your appearance, clear, youthful-looking skin, full lips, and reduced scarring. These results will last for months and, in some cases, more than a year. The process is safe and effective.

We understand the feeling: a double chin can be extremely frustrating and demoralizing, especially when you feel like you have already done everything you could possibly do to fix the problem. However, surgery is not always a plausible option for everyone, and sometimes, dieting and exercising doesn’t do the trick. Luckily, you have other affordable options. Kybella – an injectable treatment – may be the best fit for you. Explore the benefits of Kybella by scheduling a consultation at Sarah Hamilton Face in Liberty Lake, Washington.
What Is Kybella?
Before scheduling a consultation with Sarah Hamilton Face, it’s important to do your research in order to fully understand the details. Kybella is a nonsurgical, injectable technique that is primarily used to target and remove excess fat or skin beneath the chin. Interestingly, the process involves a synthetic form of “deoxycholic” acid injections that are designed to remove fat cells within the chin area.
The cosmetic treatment is not considered a procedure because it doesn’t require incisions or sedation, and the process only takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
How Does Kybella Do Its Job?
So, you know the gist of what facial injections are and how it works, but you are probably wondering exactly how it all works within your system. Deoxycholic acid is actually a bile acid which is naturally produced by the body to help absorb fat.
Once your body receives the injection, the synthetic acid will aim to destroy fat cells beneath your chin so it is unable to store fat in the future. Even though it seems relatively simple, a trained professional must perform the injection to avoid killing other cells in the body.
How Many Treatments Does It Take?
You also might be wondering what the process is like in the clinic, and how many treatments are required. Prior to the treatment, your provider will mark the target areas beneath the chin with a marker. Then, your provider will administer approximately 20 to 50 injections in the target area.
After that, the acid will gradually kill fat cells over time, which will then be slowly metabolized through the upcoming weeks. Depending on each individual person’s needs and expectations, multiple treatments may be necessary. You can receive a maximum of six injections, with up to one month between each session.
Who Is the Best Candidate for Injectable Treatments?
The ideal candidate for facial treatments should be at least 18 years of age and should have either moderate to severe fat cells beneath the chin. You may not be the best candidate if:
- You have received or plan to receive facial surgery
- You have trouble swallowing
- You are pregnant or nursing
- You have an infection near the facial injection site
- You have a thyroid disorder
- You have swollen lymph glands in the neck
How Much Do Injectables Cost?
The cost of your treatment will need to be discussed with a healthcare provider. The total cost is determined based upon the following factors:
- Total number of treatments desired (most people are satisfied after four)
- Your specific healthcare provider’s fees
- Your geographic location
Preparing the Body for Facial Injections
Hash Out the Details With Your Provider First
For starters, it’s imperative that you schedule a consultation with a provider at Sarah Hamilton Face before receiving a facial injection treatment. Your doctor will go over several details with you, such as:
- Medical history
- Cosmetic procedures previously completed on the face, neck, or chin
- Trouble swallowing
- Bleeding issues
- You are pregnant or nursing, or plan to become pregnant in the near future
Personal Prepping Before Your Session
On the plus side, there are limited preparation requirements for an injectable treatment. However, every treatment requires at least some type of personal preparation, which includes:
- Avoid scheduling your treatment before a major event
- Wash your face properly to reduce any risks of bacterial infection
- Avoid ibuprofen or acetaminophen to prevent post-treatment bruising
General Facial Injection Facts
If you are curious to know a little bit more about facial injections beneath the chin, these facts and statistics might be useful to you:
- Kybella was approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in 2015
- Kybella is considered a safe alternative to liposuction and other surgical procedures
- In a clinical trial, 82.4 percent of people reported “significantly improved satisfaction” with their appearance
- Kybella has been clinically proven to be safe and effective
- The ASDS (American Society for Dermatologic Surgery) says that 67% of people are bothered by excess fat under the chin
- Kybella is currently the only FDA-approved injection that is used to treat a double chin appearance
Liposuction – The Old Way to Remove Stubborn Fat
Ever since injections beneath the chin and around the neck grew in popularity, liposuction is now considered “the old way to remove stubborn fat.” Even though liposuction and other forms of plastic surgery are still a relatively popular alternative, most healthcare providers and patients alike would argue that injectables are a safer, simpler, faster, and equally-as-effective treatment.
What Is Liposuction?
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, liposuction slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fats. Regardless of the type of technique used, a surgeon will make small incisions into the skin, and vacuum out fat cells with a small tube. For the most part, liposuction is used to target fat in the stomach, upper arms, buttocks, hips, thighs, chin, and neck areas. ck cfat
This is the most common type of liposuction, and it’s also the most intense. First, a surgeon will inject a sterile solution into the body (A mixture of saltwater and medication). After that, the surgeon will make small incisions into the area being treated and insert a thin tube called a cannula. The cannula, which is connected to a vacuum, will suction out fat cells and other fluids.
This type of liposuction technique is often used in accordance with a tumescent liposuction. The only difference is that the surgeon will insert a metal rod that ruptures fat cell walls breaks down fat for easier removal.
e ta tin i
Instead of breaking down fat cells with ultrasonic energy, laser-assisted liposuction will use high-intensity laser light to help break down fat for easier removal. Afterward, the surgeon will insert a laser fiber through a small incision in the skin, and fat cells are removed through a cannula.
This type of technique is often used on people who have larger volumes of fat to be removed, or if they have received liposuction in the past. In this procedure, a cannula moves in a rapid back and forth motion to remove fat easier and faster.
What Happens During the Procedure?
Throughout a liposuction procedure, you can expect to be under either local or regional anesthesia. You also may be given a sedative through an IV injection to help put you at ease. Then, the surgeon will monitor your heart rate and blood pressure, as well as your blood oxygen level. The procedure may last up to several hours, depending upon the extent of fat removal.
Lastly, when the procedure is over, you may spend either a few hours to an entire night in the hospital. This ensures you have a closely monitored recovery, and it also ensures that you are not dehydrated or in shock from fluid loss. d yl e, , dvv. d dsVv se bee cedcc

What Is the Difference Between Liposuction and Facial Injections?
uira aequires at is ReAs you can see, there are many differences between liposuction and facial injections. The main difference between liposuction and injectables is that liposuction is a surgical procedure that requires the use of anesthesia, epinephrine, and multiple incisions in order to break down and vacuum out fat cells, while an injection is simply a cosmetic treatment that injects acids into the body to remove fat cells in a specific area.
Benefits of Injectables Over Liposuction
Liposuction has been around for a long time. In fact, the use of cosmetic procedures to remove excess fat and contour the shape of the body has remained popular for those who can afford it since the 1970’s. However, as technology and medication steadily improve, so do cosmetic treatments. Facial injections are a perfect alternative to liposuction, and here is why:
- suteral taAcidic injections go by faster than surgical procedures
- Injections are less complicated than surgical procedures
- Injections have proven to be safer than surgery
- haveInjections are a cheaper alternative to liposuction
- Facial injections provide the same results as liposuction for less
- Injectables don’t require anesthesia or the use of other medications
- Injectables don’t require surgical incisions
Now that you understand the benefits of Kybella compared to liposuction, and how both treatments work, you can make an educated decision on how to get rid of a double chin in a simpler way. Likewise, we will generally want you to stay away from alcohol and smoking.
What to Do Following the Treatment

You can usually see the desired effects right away, and they’re expected to last for a while until follow-up injections are necessary. Results from patient to patient can vary.

Do you suffer from hyperpigmentation? Don’t worry; you are not alone. People all over the world suffer from excess melanin production, and luckily, there are some easy ways to correct this common issue.
What is Hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is when the skin produces too much melanin, which can be caused by scarring, acne, sun damage, and even hormone fluctuation. This increase in production leads to overactive pigmentation.
Skin Lightening Creams
Skin lightening creams are a common first way to correct hyperpigmentation at home. These over-the-counter topical creams use ingredients such as hydroquinone, licorice extract, and vitamin B-3 to decrease the appearance of uneven pigmentation. It is not uncommon for people to experience less than stellar results using these creams. That’s because these OTC products can only go so far. Oftentimes, a professional treatment is needed to really address the issue.
A common way to rid the face of cosmetic impurities is to use a chemical peel. They work by stripping the top layers of the skin to reveal the younger, healthier skin underneath that isn’t as affected by the hyperpigmentation.
We often associate laser treatments with hair removal and other uses, but they also work wonders to correct hyperpigmentation. Treatments are performed in the comfort of our office by trained professionals, and the laser energy is carefully controlled in order to ensure precision and patient comfort.
Intense Pulse Light Therapy
It may sound futuristic, but intense pulse light therapy is an effective laser treatment that can be used to decrease hyperpigmentation. Intense pulse light therapy usually requires multiple sessions to achieve the desired results. Patients love intense pulse light therapy because sometimes it can help reduce fine lines and even help shrink enlarged pores.

Do you hate having your picture taken due to a double chin? Do you refuse to shave your beard for fear of the world thinking you’re overweight? We believe everyone should be confident in their skin, even if they suffer from submental fullness. That’s why we’re proud to offer Kybella®, the only FDA-approved injectable treatment to address submental fullness.
What is Kybella®?
Kybella® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment to treat submental fullness. This prescription medication is a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid and can be used to treat submental fullness safely and effectively. But the results of this treatment don’t stop there. In fact, many people call it a “mini-liposuction in a syringe” for the double chin area.
When Will I See Results?
To achieve their final aesthetic goals, many patients require a series of treatment sessions spaced a set amount of time apart. You will start to see results in the weeks after your first treatment session. This is because your lymphatic system needs time to process and eliminate the dead fat cells.
Keep in mind that it also takes weeks to see results after chin liposuction due to the resulting swelling. Whether this treatment is right for you depends on if you want to undergo a medical procedure to treat submental fullness.
Incredible Benefits of This Treatment
1. Results are Permanent
One of the most significant benefits of this treatment is that the results are permanent. Once your fat cells are destroyed, your body cannot grow new ones. Only you can control whether you will gain weight in the future, but if you do, your submental fullness will be less severe because there are fewer fat cells under your chin that can expand.
2. There is No Downtime Required
Liposuction requires a recovery period before you can resume your regular daily activities. Contrastingly, deoxycholic acid injections require no set downtime.
3. Enhanced Self-Confidence
Nobody wants a double chin. Unfortunately, even if you have maintained a healthy weight your entire life, you may suffer from submental fullness. This is because a double chin can be caused by age, genetics or other factors. In these cases, people are frustrated that they look heavier than they really are and their self-confidence declines.
Kybella® gives you back your self-confidence. If your double chin is the result of bad genes, this treatment gives you the opportunity to look healthier than you ever have.
4. There Is No Surgery
Kybella® has many advantages over the alternatives. The most significant of these advantages is the fact that the treatment is entirely non-surgical.
Am I a Good Candidate?
During your initial consultation, we will evaluate your profile, the condition of your skin and your goals to determine the best treatment for you. If you are concerned about fat underneath your chin, you are probably a good candidate for this treatment. You may also be a good candidate if you feel submental fullness makes you look heavier or older than you actually are and you want to avoid an invasive medical procedure.
During a consultation at Sarah Hamilton Face, our experts will evaluate your aesthetic goals and help you find the best rejuvenating treatment to help you achieve them. We proudly serve clients throughout Spokane, Liberty Lake and Coeur d’ Alene. Contact us today to book your appointment at our office in Liberty Lake!
Everyone likes to look their best. There have been many medical and scientific discoveries in recent years that have made this easier than ever to accomplish. Juvéderm® is an extremely versatile family of dermal fillers. It can be used to help people combat a wide variety of aesthetic issues here in Spokane. Have you been seeking a way to look younger and boost your self-esteem? This is definitely a treatment worth checking out!
What Is Juvéderm®?
Although there are several different fillers in the Juvéderm® family, they all are hyaluronic acid-based. This acid is actually a naturally-occurring sugar found in the body. The synthetic version used in dermal fillers is great for plumping up the skin and restoring its youthfulness.
Juvéderm® stands out from other hyaluronic acid-based fillers due to its Hylacross technology. This helps to give your face the structure it needs to appear smoother and firmer. When compared to other treatments, the gel used in this one is very smooth.
After injections, the hyaluronic acid adds immediate volume to the targeted area. Its job does not end there, however. It also attracts more moisture to the area, further improving your results and making them last longer.
The Juvéderm® Family of Fillers
In total, there are four different fillers to choose from in this line here in Spokane. The right filler for you depends entirely on the area of your face you are seeking to target and the results you are after. You can choose from:
- Voluma XC: One of the ways that the face ages that is often overlooked is sagging. Over the years, the cheeks can begin to lose volume. This filler is perfect for restoring that volume and giving your cheeks youthful contours. Results can last for up to an impressive two years.
- Vollure XC: This is a treatment for nasolabial folds. It plumps up the skin underneath the nose and/or mouth to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Clinical studies saw this treatment lasting for up to 18 months.
- Volbella XC: Those seeking a way to treat vertical lip lines, sometimes referred to as “lipstick lines,” while adding subtle volume to the mouth, will want to learn more about this filler. The results are known to last for up to one year.
- Ultra XC: If you are hoping to add more than a little volume to your lips, this may be the correct option for you. This is also a treatment option for those seeking to treat nasolabial folds. According to the manufacturer, it can last for up to one year.
Do Juvéderm® Treatments Hurt?
Each of the fillers in this line has lidocaine in the injections. Once injected, the area becomes numb within seconds. You may feel a slight pinch, but this fades quickly. The lidocaine keeps you comfortable after your treatment as well. If you have concerns about the initial pinch felt, ice or topical numbing agents can be used. Your comfort is always a top priority.
Juvéderm® Compared to Other Injectable Treatments
There are currently many different injectable fillers on the market. They fall into two main categories. This is because there are actually two different types of wrinkles that can form on the face.
The first is the kind that shows up on the face when certain facial movements happen. One great example is the lines that show up near the eyes when you smile. These are treated by injections such as Botox®, which works by temporarily relaxing muscles in order to allow the face to relax.
The other kind of wrinkles are the ones that appear when your face is at rest. They are best treated by dermal fillers. Juvéderm® is a great treatment option for wrinkles that do not only show up when you make certain facial expressions.
The Benefits of Juvéderm®
Still on the fence about these treatments? Be sure to consider the following benefits associated with Juvéderm® dermal fillers:
- They are comfortable: Thanks to the lidocaine and other precautions, you do not need to worry about pain with this treatment.
- They are minimally-invasive: Small needles are used in this treatment, leaving behind no scars. Injectable dermal fillers are non-surgical and do not carry the risks and downtime that more invasive treatments do.
- There is no downtime: There is no “recovery period” and the short treatments allow you to return to work right away if desired.
- The results are very natural looking: Since hyaluronic acid is found in the body, Juvéderm® treatments will not leave you looking fake or “plastic.”
- Results are quick: You do not have to wait weeks while your body creates collagen. Results are immediate and long-lasting.
- It is reversible: Plastic surgery is hard to undo if you are not happy with the results. With Juvéderm®, on the other hand, you only have to wait for the hyaluronic acid to naturally biodegrade.
What to Expect with Juvéderm® Treatments in Spokane
Prior to beginning, a consultation will be conducted to discuss your medical history as well as what you are hoping to accomplish with Juvéderm®. In order to reduce the risk of bleeding and/or bruising, it may be recommended that you stop taking aspirin or NSAIDs. There are other precautions that will need to be followed prior to your treatment as well. These include avoiding tanning, drinking, and smoking. This is all done to ensure that you get the best possible results from your treatment.
When the time for your injections arrives, the target area will be numbed if desired. A series of injections are gently given at the predetermined spots. Finally, the area will be massaged to ensure that the hyaluronic acid is evenly distributed and that your results are very natural in appearance. When it is all said and done, most treatments take 15 minutes or less to complete.
What to Expect after Juvéderm® Treatments
Results are seen immediately after your treatment, although you may experience a bit of swelling at first. There is no actual downtime after treatment, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Your skin will be especially sensitive after your injections, so be sure to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 hours. Other things to avoid in the first day after treatment include alcohol, strenuous exercise, and extreme heat. You will be given specific aftercare instructions based on your individual situation. This will include things such as how long you should wait before applying make-up and resuming your normal skin care routine. How long your results last will depend on many factors, including which of the fillers in the line was used.
Results with Juvéderm®
One of the biggest reasons people here in Spokane love this treatment is the amazing results. It may take two or three weeks for the swelling to go down completely and for you to see the full impact of your treatment. Again, how long your results last will depend on which filler in the line you have selected. For example, one clinical study found that 78% of patients who had Ultra XC injections in their lips were still happy with their improvements one year later. Another study done on Voluma XC found that people who had these injections felt they looked five years younger six months afterward. Due to how safe these injections are, you can schedule follow-up treatments when you feel your improvements are fading.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Juvéderm® Treatments in Spokane?
Good candidates for this treatment are those who can benefit from the skin plumping effects. They are in good general health and have a good understanding of what the treatment entails and what results can be expected. Although this type of treatment is typically associated with women, men can benefit just as much.
Most fillers in this line require that the person be at least 21 years of age, although the requirement for some is 18. It is important to not have an active infection at the injection sites. The safety of this treatment has not been thoroughly studied for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are dealing with issues such as wrinkling due to environmental factors, other treatments option may be better. We would be happy to help you explore your options at your consultation. Juvéderm® can also be combined with other fillers and treatments to help give you the look you are after.
Is Juvéderm® Safe?
This treatment is considered to be very safe. Allergic reactions are incredibly rare. There are no animal byproducts in the injections, which is one of the main reasons allergies are almost unheard of. The body recognizes hyaluronic acid as something natural. Even those who are sensitive to other filler materials typically respond well to this treatment. Unlike with many other cosmetic treatments, skin tests are not required prior to having your injections. This helps to streamline the process. Over time, the hyaluronic acid in the injections is completely broken down and excreted by the body. You do not have to worry about chemicals being left behind. This treatment has had FDA-approval since June 2nd, 2006.

Both men and women in Coeur d’Alene should consider BOTOX® as an option when they look in the mirror and notice those wrinkles, folds, furrows, and fine lines that seem to be getting deeper every day. BOTOX® is specifically approved by the FDA correct those signs of aging. Best of all, the sessions are quick, there’s no downtime, and a client doesn’t have to fast the night before or prepare for it weeks in advance. When the session is over, they can go home.
What Is BOTOX® and How Does It Work?
BOTOX® is a purified protein solution, and it relaxes the muscles beneath your wrinkles, which causes the wrinkles to smooth out or soften. It does this because it interrupts the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contractions. Because there are over 40 muscles in the face, it’s important that the aesthetician knows exactly which muscles to target. To help them, they’ll often ask the patient to scrunch up their forehead, smile or frown before they inject the solution.
The aesthetician needs to have a consultation with the patient well before their session. They not only need to know what the patient wants from their treatment, but they need to find out if the patient is a good candidate. This means thoroughly interviewing the patient and taking their medical history.
The procedure is straightforward. The client sits in a chair, the aesthetician cleans their face and numbs the area to be treated. The aesthetician may also mark the areas where they will inject the BOTOX®. The solution is then injected through fine, short needles, often 31 or 32 gauge needles that are used by insulin-dependent diabetics. The dosage of BOTOX® also has to be calibrated for every patient. For example, men tend to have bigger muscles than women, so they’ll need a higher dosage for their injections.
After the session, the patient rests for a while with an ice pack pressed to the injection sites. Then, they can go home. Some people go back to work or school, but our Coeur d’Alene aesthetician recommends that they just go home and rest for a few days.
Recovery is usually speedy, and people can see the results soon after their treatment. To make recovery even speedier and more successful, the person should avoid heat and humidity and strenuous exercise for at least a day. They should not take blood thinners or NSAIDs and avoid massaging the injection sites. This could cause the toxin to migrate to a place where it’s not wanted.
